Sources says the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State on Monday levied the sum of N2m as a ‘party developmental fee’ on aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket in its forthcoming primary election.
The development fee will be accompanied with a ‘letter of notification’ from the aspirants aiming to participate in the opposition party’s primary election due for September 2016.
Male aspirants will pay the sum of 2 million naira while their Female counterparts will pay the sum of N1million naira as the part of their own developmental fee to the party for developmental purposes says Ondo State APC Chairman Isaacs Kekemeke.
He disclosed during a meeting held with some aspirants that the party would not recognize anyone that failed or refused to submit the letter of notification.
Isaac Kekemeke also added that all the aspirants would also sign a letter of commitment that would make them accept the result of the primary election.
He explained that the letter would be a written undertaking that shows the aspirants would abide by the result of the party’s primary poll and work for its victory.
“No person will be recognized by the party in the State as an aspirant for the APC primary ticket for the November 26, 2016 election without the submission of the letter of notification to the party secretariat,” he told reporters.
Isaac Kekemeke, who later issued the party’s guideline for all the aspirants, warned them against violence and verbal attacks in preparation for the November governorship election.
Some of the aspirants who spoke to the press expressed positive views ahead of the party’s primary and main governorship election.
