It’s that time again in Nigeria; election time. It’s time again to share bags of rice, garri and groundnut oil. It’s that time again to sell your votes to the highest bidder. It is that time when the “enlightened and educated” leave the business of governance to “sycophants and pot-bellied narcissists”.
Am sorry to disappoint you though if you politicians think that time is around the corner again. You see we have learnt the hard way. We have learnt with avoidable deaths, loss of jobs and families struggling to survive.
We sure have learnt the hard way with the insults heaped on us. We ask now with months to the election, will we be reduced to change seekers? Are we going to be complicit in this façade? Are we going to allow sentiments, ethnicity, religion sway us from the truth?
The truth that governments past and presents have failed us? Even the generations unborn are not spared the torture and agony, the killings, the anguish.
I ask again “are we going to be complicit in this façade?”.
I sure will not and come Election Day, I and my vote will certainly have a say about the direction I feel this country should be headed.
