Five ways to minimize or stop snoring

Snoring is a sound resulting from turbulent airflow that causes the tissues of the nose and throat to vibrate during sleep. This is caused by the vibration of soft tissue in your head and neck as you breathe in and out during sleep.

Do you know someone that snores badly or are you even the one who snores so bad…these following tips will help minimize or stop snoring.

Five ways to minimize or stop snoring

  1. Change your sleeping position

One of the causes might be your sleeping position. It is best to sleep on your side to prevent snoring. Also, lying on your back gives room for the base of your tongue and soft palate collapse to the back wall of your throat and this gives room for snoring.

  1. Try to practice good sleep hygiene

Basically, overworking the body system and not having enough sleep is what is called poor sleeping hygiene. When one gets extremely tired and finally lands on the bed, one tends to sleep hard and deep and the muscles becomes loose and flexible which gives room for snoring. Therefore I advise one should not try to overwork the body system.

  1. Loose weight

Being overweight can lead to snoring because of the fatty tissue in the back of the throat that makes sound during sleep. However, this may not work for everyone because slim people also snore. This may only work for those that recently added weight and started snoring but before now has never snored. If you fall within this category try to shed some weight.

  1. Pay attention to cleaning your sleeping environment/bedroom

Get rid of those dusts that have been hanging on your fan, air conditioner for months. Dust your pillow, bed sheet and every other thing that needs cleaning in your bedroom because dust might accumulate in pillows and can cause allergic reactions that can lead to snoring.

  1. Clear your nasal passages

Having a blocked nose can lead to snoring. Clear your nose before sleeping in order to breathe well while sleeping.

If any these listed tips above don’t help out, i guess you should consult your Medical Doctor.
