The Visuals of Falz’s Child of the World is out and it is stunning. The song is off his 2017 album titled 27 and it was released in 2017. For those familiar with that album, there are hits such as La Fete, Jeje, Wehdone Sir, Bahd Baddo Baddest , Next etc.
Child of the World however does stand out for its strong message. The song tackles the scourge of rape, suicide and stigmatization of HIV/Aids patients as its main thematic preoccupation. There are also highlights of prostitution, single parenthood, and hope. But then, we are talking about Falz here, a master of his art.
Child of the World does what other songs are unable to do. It draws attention to vices which are now gradually turning into societal norms and gives a message of hope, for the “victims of circumstances”.
The blend of traditional African musical instruments really stirs the soul and the lyrics are top notch. Forgive me for waxing about this visual but it really is that good. A wonderful story told, lessons learnt about expectations, the irony of life, and a call to action for society.
The visuals of Child of the World does justice to the song and you cannot fault it in anyway. The stars of this visuals are Toyin Abraham and Bambam of Big Brother Naija fame. They portrayed their roles excellently and special praise must go to Bambam for how she was able to elicit sympathy for the victim. Viewing the video, you live the life of the victim through Bambam’s eyes and can relate with her through the highs and lows of her life.
Toyin Abraham as the African mother sacrifices everything for her child and never stops praying, but prayers are never enough. The very people we trust are the very ones who end up hurting us most. So parents have to be mindful of who they trust their wards with.
We should all remember we are victims of our circumstances, and the choices we make, makes or mars us. Falz has done his part, It is left for society to right its wrongs.
Did I mention that Falz danced bata at the end of the video? You would love it. Watch the video here
